Noa Romana & Deersky – See You Soon (Soundteller Records)

One of our favourite releases this year has been Rodrigo Mateo’s ‘Harmony Of The Spheres’ which came courtesy of Deersky’s Soundteller Records. The label returns this week for its seventh overall release and features label boss Deersky teaming up with his regular studio partner Noa Romana. Deersky and Noa formed what was one of 2012’s best new production groups and their popularity has only grown as 2013 moves forward. Their new single is entitled ‘See You Soon’ and it comes with an amazing collection of remixes from: Beat Syndrome, Matias Chilano and Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic.

‘See You Soon’ is another slow burning beauty from Noa and Deersky. There’s a real delicate nature about the track which is very inviting. Angelic sounding pads and an aquatic backdrop make for the perfect soundscape while the tough beats and subtle synth hooks push forward. The break is a well crafted musical masterpiece with an attention grabbing spoken vocal section and a softly textured melody which just for a brief moment reminds us of Humate’s ‘Love Stimulation’. The second half sees a wispy vocal pad along with the delicate melodies casting a serene vibe over the composition which is just a real pleasure to listen to. Classy sounding stuff from Noa and Deersky.

The first remix comes from Beat Syndrome who are returning to Soundteller for their second appearance. The Canadian duo continue to be hugely in demand remixers and their last single for Sound Avenue entitled ‘Tsunami’ was one of the their most well received productions to date. Their ‘See You Soon’ interpretation stays true to the scenic soundscapes from the original but with a much groovier and more dance floor oriented approach. Waves of shuffling drums along with very cool vocal gates and some gorgeous musicality make this our favourite remix on the package. The great thing is it keeps the delicate vibe of the original but adds some powerful elements like big bass swells and sweet musical hooks. Well done Beat Syndrome.

This is a big week for Matias Chilano as his ‘Aura’ single is being released on 3rd Avenue and he’s also provided two great interpretations here. Matias’ main mix has a real presence that you become immediately captivated with. The beats are incredibly smooth and the waves of engulfing atmosphere and long windswept sweeps are just spectacular. The vocal samples get worked in marvellously as well with a barrage of cool effects and trailing psychedelics. Matias has also provided an intro mix which comes with all the same superb elements as the previous mix but with a huge atmospheric intro that makes the vocal samples really come to life. Both versions are some of Matias’ best work to date. Outstanding.

The package is closed out with Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic who are making their first appearance on Deersky’s Soundteller. The trio behind the Mistique music imprint have long been amongst our favourite producers and 2013 has them grow even larger with releases on Darin Epsilon’s Perspectives Digital, Sound Avenue, Stripped, Movement and John OO Fleming’s JOOF. This has also been a huge week for MLSR as their remix of Kay-D’s ‘Natural Touches’ has just been released on Mistique Music. Michael, Levan and Stiven Rivic have added some nice funk to ‘See You Soon’ with a cool rolling bass line and some catchy lead hooks. There are some quick drops throughout which are really dynamic and keep the energy rocking all the way through to a wicked finale. A perfect close to a massive package from Soundteller!
