OIBAF&WALLEN Are An Exciting Duo Who Have An Epic Take On Melodic House

Hela EP Is Available In Stores December 16th

OIBAF&WALLEN are a duo from Madrid whose track can be found on imprints such as Parquet Recordings, and their new release is soon to drop on the Univack imprint.

With strong melodies and epic pads, the guy’s style borders between Melodic-Techno and Progressive-House, taking key elements from both. We premiered “Hela” which is one of the two original tracks on their new EP and caught up with the guys to find out more about the release….

Hi Guys, can you start by telling us about yourselves, and how you first got into electronic music?

Hi there, first of all, thank you for the interest in our new release guys.
We met up in 2016 and we began to work together only some months after that meeting and deciding to start as a duo better than continuing our separated careers.

Could you talk us through your new track “Hela”, and the EP that it features on?

We started to produce it around one year ago, we wanted to create an EP which had two sides and walking through progressive, ethereal nice sounds and another cut which shows up more groove and powerful identity. So maybe ‘Hela’ is more inspirational, unquantized melodies and emotional indeed, definitely goes straightly into progressive style. In the other hand ‘Balder’, we wanted to seek about more power into groove sounds and messy leads, ethereal melodies who keep the mind travelling constantly.

How did you meet the team behind Univack Records who are releasing your new EP, and is this your first release for the imprint?

One of the AR’s contacted us by Instagram and email after, commenting they listened some music of us on social networks and they’re interested in releasing music of us, so we sent them some demos and they liked ‘Hela’ and ‘Balder’, so we were so happy because we really thought both tracks fits perfect on an EP and the remixers Arude and Paul Angelo & Don Argento are completely awesome and produced super high-quality remixes.
We’re so proud of this work, indeed releasing on Univack because they work hard and release music with amazing crew artists and big names of the world scene.

Which other labels have you worked with, and what’s been your proudest moment to date?

We worked with some nice labels but maybe the best for us is What Came First (Egg’s London label) which was our first release together in 2017 and Parquet Recordings (25th Nov 2019, release 209th) is maybe one of the happiest moments in our career.

Have there been any big-name DJ’s supporting your music, and who is the DJ/producer that inspires you the most?

We’re so proud nowadays because when you receive support from big artists and producers as Rafael Cerato, Danito & Athina, Juan Elvadin, Kevin De Vries, Øostil, Nick Devon, Monastetiq, Stas Drive, Ubbah among others you only want to continue working and demonstrate every day you can be part of the scene.

What’s next in your schedule after the ‘Hela’ EP hits stores on the 16th of December?

Our next important releases dates are on Awen, 2 EP’s during 2020 year, a label which we love and trust they’ll become bigger for sure in the future.

A very interesting remix we made for 88Dubs & SHDOW on ProjectXIII, in 2020 year too. And of course, the nicest and big project we have scheduled until the date our Album debut on our own label ONISM in digital and vinyl platform before summer of 2020.
