Deersky’s Soundteller Records returns this week after their first full length album release from Polish producer Deep Fog last week. Soundteller’s 12th release sees the red hot Omar El Gamal making his debut on the label. The now Miami based producer spent several years living in Montreal, Canada where he honed his production skills using inspiration from the many DJs who frequent Montreal’s world renown club scene. He recently returned to Circus Nightclub in Montreal to open for Hernan Cattaneo in early July and has picked up his production pace quite a bit this year with releases on 3rd Avenue, Dopamine, 99percent, Electronic Tree and Liquid Grooves. Omar’s debut for Soundteller is entitled ‘Delhi’ and it comes with two brand new original productions.
The title cut ‘Dehli’ has an immense atmospheric presence. The slowly wavering backdrop of hazy electronics is not only hypnotic but ideally mood setting. The tough beats bring the track to the main drop where a vortex of glassy keys works in mesmerizing fashion while the atmosphere begins to build. A long sonic sweep reveals the beats once again and the gaseous atmosphere seems even more intoxicating for the records second act. The glassy keys soon reappear and sound positively marvellous as the track rumbles to a smooth finish. The companion piece ‘Sunrise In Warung’ is certainly Omar’s most gorgeous creation to date. An intricate groove lays down the framework while more swirling electronics tantalize the senses. The real magic comes when the angelic sounding melodic theme is presented. Heavenly doesn’t even begin to describe it and the way the soft textures work against the glassy electronics is really special. Amazing work from Omar on both cuts here and another top shelf release for Deersky’s Soundteller Records.
