Bermudos is back this week and one of our favourite Colombian producers is making his debut on the label. Global Dance Radio’s Paul Lennar’s production career is really starting to lift off as he’s growing in popularity. His recent release on Lowbit Records was outstanding and now gets added to an already impressive discography which includes releases on Mistique Music, Deepsessions, Balkan Connection, OLD SQL, Stellar Fountain, Reelaux Digital, Limeroads and Magic Room. Paul’s debut for Bermudos is entitled ‘Wicked’ and it comes with remixes from Rikesto and Graziano Raffa.

Paul’s original gets the release off to a great start with a tough, well produced framework and a cool, attention grabbing vocal sample. The atmosphere builds slowly and muted bass stabs form a funky groove which leads to the main drop. The subtle bass tones and delicate atmospheric accents create a gaseous sounding interlude which sets a gorgeous cinematic vibe. The minimalistic groove then picks back up and the funky hooks carry it to a smooth finish. A groovy production from Paul!

The first remix is supplied by Graziano Raffa who is making his debut on Bermudos. Residing in the electronic music hotbed of Barcelona, Spain Graziano looks to be one of the most talked about new comers on the scene this year. With a forthcoming release on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music the next month looks to be huge for Graziano. Graziano’s ‘Wicked’ interpretation builds on the great groove from Paul’s original with some added drum elements and fresh sounding electronics. Additional synth hooks get dropped in the main breakdown and up the energy nicely though the second half which should serve the melodic DJs quite nicely.

The second and final remix is supplied by Rikesto who first came to our attention when he was announced as one of the finalists in the Guy J ‘Azimuth’ remix contest. The Columbian producer ‘s driving atmospheric interpretation caught the attention of Guy J and was also played by Hernan Cattaneo. Appearances on Dopamine, Balkan Connection and Armada have solidified Rikesto as one of the most talented up and comers from Columbia. For Rikesto’s mix of ‘Wicked’ he has delivered the biggest sounding production on the package. A powerful bass line sits at the foundation while driving drums and wispy vocal gates flow through the framework. Swirling atmospheres and a nice twist on the primary synths makes for an infectious hypnotic vibe that carries the track to the main drop. The spacey interlude is the perfect break from the charging beats and casts a serene vibe over the entire production which is really soothing. A great production from Rikesto which closes the release out on a high note. All three tracks deliver something quite interesting here which makes for a very good release from Paul and Bermudos.
