The 256th release on Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s Mistique Music is out this week and it sees the debut of the Australia based duo Progress Inn to the label. Janko Dragovic and Igor Kadic make up the Progress Inn production team and are both originally from former Yugoslavia but are now currently based in Perth, Australia. Janko and Igor have been on a real tear lately with recent productions on Bermudos, Vapour, Soulfire and Balkan Connection. Their debut for Mistique is entitled ”Fever City’ and it comes with two brand new original tracks.
The title cut leads the EP off with a tough percussive framework that really has some dance floor pop. A flurry of metallic sounding hits gives way for the introduction of a smooth hypnotic bass line which generates some great energy. Subtle electronics hooks and a wealth of dynamic sounding drums build a killer groove as the track approaches the main break. The drop is short and merely serves to build some tension through subtle modulation before the thunderous groove reappears for a nice finish.
The companion piece ‘Boulton Goodbye’ comes with a deeper hypnotic vibe that has a wicked dance floor flow about it. Progress Inn has this way of combining a wide spectrum of subtle electronic intricacies that all work so well together. The way the sounds play off each other really forms a killer groove. There is nothing big or overblown here just solid grooves for the dance floor. Great EP from Progress Inn and a top release for Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s Mistique Music.
