Hi Robert, tell us about you.

Hi, my name is Robert Vasilev and I am 24 years old DJ / Producer currently living in Finland. I started my career in 2015 and I have been producing for a year and a half now, my first EP coming out in 2016.

What made you get in to dance music?

I’m a big fan of the dance music, and the thought of making people dance by performing behind the decks was something I wanted to do for a long time.

Where was your first gig?

My first gig was in Helsinki, Finland. A bar called Memphis in the centre of Helsinki.

How difficult was learning to produce for you in the beginning?

It was quite difficult as I dont have any musical background. I have put a lot of work and dedication towards it.

Talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

My latest release was called ‘HERA’, and it was a collaboration with a Spanish based artist ‘Julian Ess’. It was released on the italian Riot Recordings, a label founded by the well known artist ‘FRANKYEFFE’.

What’s the music scene like where you live and how often are you playing?

The ‘Techno’ scene in Finland is very small with only few big promoters and bigger artists. I usually have shows 1-2 times a month.

Which other DJs or producers are you liking right now?

I am a big fan of the UK based DJ / Producer James Zabiela. He is very skillful and creative behind the decks. The producers I really like at the moment are Hollen, Skober And Timmo just to name a few.

What are your go to labels?

My favourite labels at the moment are: Riot Recordings, Eclipse Recordings, Bosphorus Underground Recordings, Funk’n Deep, Phobiq and Hungry Koala Records. I’m happy to say that I have released on Riot, Eclipse, Bosphorus Underground and soon for Hungry Koala Records with my Remix.

Tell us about your DJ setup

I’m a fan of the CDJ’s so I have to say that my ideal setup is 3x CDJ 2000nxs and the new DJM 900nxs2. My second choise would be Traktor with X1 and Z1 controllers.

What’s been your biggest achievement

My biggest achievement is that I have released on some major labels even though I’ve been producing for a relatively short time. I have been working hard on the Djing and the production for the past 2 years or so.

What can we expect from you soon

More performances and shows nationwide in Finland and abroad in Europe as well. Im also working on couple of EP’s at the moment!
