Scotty.A – Sense of an Ending (BC Edition) (Balkan Connection)

Scotty.A’s ‘Sense of an Ending’ was originally released on Proton Music as part of his ‘Natural Senses’ EP from July of 2013. The US label followed that with an exceptional remix edition which featured new interpretations from Navar and Luis Bondio. One of the biggest and most loved labels from Proton’s massive distribution family is undoubtedly Balkan Connection. The long standing imprint is rapidly approaching its 300th release and remains one of the top progressive house labels in the industry. This week sees Scotty’s ‘Sense of on Ending’ getting it’s Balkan Connection Edition release which includes two brand new remixes from Matias Chilano and Nicholas Van Orton.

I’m not sure what else I can say about Matias Chilano. I’ve written countless reviews on his tracks and remixes and he’s a producer that has grown leaps and bounds over the last two years. A pivotal moment in Matias’ production career came when he won the Sound Avenue remix competition. If you take a look at his discography that appeared to be a turning point and his productions have been consistently excellent ever since. Matias’ remix here marks his tenth appearance on Balkan Connection and he’s done a marvelous job with his ‘Sense of an Ending’ interpretation. In upping the tempo just a touch and adding his own atmospheric spin on the production Matias has transformed ‘Sense of an Ending’ into something that is both deeply hypnotic and incredibly captivating. It’s definitely got a Hernan Cattaneo vibe about it as well so it wouldn’t surprise me if the legendary DJ is including this one in his recent sets.

The second and final remix is supplied Nicholas Van Orton who is making his 53rd appearance on Balkan Connection. Nicholas’ contributions to electronic music over the years have been truly amazing. His South American division of Balkan Connection continues to support some of the finest talent in the progressive house underground and his DJ sets are loved by all. Nicholas always seems to find a way to bring a production a bit closer to the bigger dance floors and he’s done that here on his ‘Sense of an Ending’ interpretation. The Argentinean’s spacious groove has a wonderful roll to it not to mention well carved bass stabs. The delicate electronics and flickering back drop seem to go hand in hand and results are of shimmering beauty. It’s another fabulous interpretation from Nicholas and it rounds out a wicked BC edition for Scotty.A’s ‘Sense of an Ending’. Highly Recommended.
