The latest release on Paul Hazendonk’s MNL imprint finds the label showcasing two brand new interpretations of Sezer Uysal’s ‘Le Grand Labyrinthe’.
Originally released on the 2014 album ‘1 Body 2 Souls’ (courtesy of parent label Manual Music) the track remains one of Sezer’s most popular productions to date. MNL now calls upon the very capable Boral Kibil and Unique Repeat to breathe new life into the track for 2015.
The first interpretation of ‘Le Grand Labyrinthe’ is provided by Boral Kibil who is making his first appearance on Manual Music. Born in France but now residing in Turkey Boral began his production career in 2011 with a string of releases on Deepsessions Recordings. He went on to appear on the Greek imprint nearly 20 times and his deep, dark take on progressive house forged a sound for the label. More recently he’s been a contributor to one of Russia’s strongest progressive house imprints Majestic Family Records where he’s appeared four times in the last year. For his ‘Le Grand Labyrinthe’ interpretation Boral has reinvented the strong motif from the original over a deep, spacious groove which should find favour with all the old school progressive house lovers. The addition of a middle eastern motif adds a new twist and makes for an eerie break that precedes a great finale. Wonderful remix from Boral.
The second and final interpretation of ‘Le Grand Labyrinthe’ is provided by Unique Repeat who are making their debut appearance on Manual Music. I’ve been following the Berlin based duo since I heard their initial productions on Plastik Park and Mango Alley in 2012-2013. Their sound has been developed and perfected over the last two years and their recent ‘Alive / District 44’ (courtesy of Parquet Recordings) is a good example of that. For their ‘Le Grand Labyrinthe’ interpretation Unique Repeat has crafted a haunting techno interpretation which sits as a wonderful complement to the original. An ever evolving storyboard of motifs and modulation makes for an exhilarating listen throughout, and there’s a profound emotional component to the track which is very strong; pretty close to goosebump territory in fact. Excellent remix from Unique Repeat who continues to impress. It rounds out a fabulous remix pack from Manual Music’s MNL imprint in fine style Don’t miss it.
