Skyler – Parallel Dreams EP (Clinique Recordings)

The 53rd release on Clinique Recordings is out this week and it follows what was one of the labels biggest to date. Last week Pole Folder‘s much sought after remix of Mindaugas Jak was released and it not only did very well in the Beatport Progressive House chart but it was also featured in Hernan Cattaneo‘s February chart. The newest release on Clinique features the debut of Skyler to the label. Little is known about this new producer but we first heard about him with his appearance on OLD SQL Recordings ‘Destinations 9’ compilation which was released just a few days ago. Skyler‘s new EP for Clinique is entitled ‘Parallel Dreams’ and it comes with two brand new original productions.

The tough groove and floaty acid lines of ‘Clandestine Chemistry’ lead the EP off. The airy, unpredictability of the pads is pretty cool here and it takes the track to the main drop. A cool vocal sample is then introduced and melds well with the hazy soundscapes which meanders through the break. Once the kick drops back in the vocal sample reappears briefly and in a more prominent fashion. As the drums get rebuilt the acid line slowly resurfaces along with the soaring pads which carry the track to a heavenly finish. The companion piece ‘Parallel Dreams’ comes with a similar atmospheric vibe but with a bit more bounce in the groove perhaps. Subtle vocal samples add a very cool touch here just before the grinding foundation drops in. As the main break approaches twinkly keys and some lovely sonic sweeps add wonderfully to groove. The break features a cool build with some scattered beats thrown in to raise the tension just a touch. The second half soars even higher with the atmospherics really driving the emotional content and ultimately resulting in a very epic conclusion. Two solid cuts from Skyler who we hope to hear more from soon!
