Stas Drive

Stas Drive delivers two of his best in ‘Inspired By Her’ and ‘I Feel Her Butterfly’ for the inaugural release on Keep Thinking.

Stas Drive

This newly formed UK label has garnered much attention over the first quarter of 2015 and they haven’t even had a release yet. Starting a new label is an exciting endeavor, and the first release is critical, not only to set the proper tone but to foreshadow what’s to come. The team of Steve McGrath, Kris Brown, Dave Anderson, Ian Crighton and Adam Greenwood have selected two beauties from the always on form Stas Drive to get the label off to a great start.

Stas Drive enjoyed much success in 2014; remixes for Hope Recordings, microCastle and Sudbeat remain highlights and an upcoming release on Lost & Found is still building hype in the underground. All great artists have production characteristics which make them unique and separate them from the music factory minded fold. Stas has this and then some; both tracks included here are a wonderful showcase of why he’s become so loved in the electronic music underground. The lead cut ‘Inspired By Her’ is full of interesting motifs which are all bound by one of the smoothest grooves of the year. It’s glacial, hypnotic fuzz and tantalizing drum fills standout immediately but as you dig deeper there are a wealth of rhythmic intricacies that make the track shine, and the sparkling melodic clusters are the icing on the cake. Just a fabulous production from Stas Drive.

The companion piece ‘I Feel Her Butterfly’ is equally if not more intriguing. Led by a cross-cultural theme and a growling foundation it strikes a chord instantly. The powerful groove seems to continually gain momentum while an array of intricate designs weave their way in and out of the framework. There are enough cool ideas in this production for several tracks but Stas has seamlessly incorporated them into one very engaging storyboard. Can’t say enough good things about both the selections here and with support already in from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Marc Marzenit and more you know this is a release not to be missed. Keep a close eye on the Keep Thinking team; there are many good things on the way from this crew. Highly Recommended.
