(In no particular order)

  1. So Inagawa – Logo QueenI got this EP (and my record player) for the B-side, Selfless State, but Logo Queen has slowly become my favorite. The track is so unbelievably deep and infectious from the start. It’s one that I come back to over and over again when thinking about the aesthetic I want to embody — kind of a north star.

2. Remi Wolf – Sexy Villain

This one just makes me happy. Heard about Remi through Kenny Beats, and she’s easily my favorite pop artist. Can’t help but smile every time I hear this track.

3. Daniel Avery – Drone Logic

This whole album is ridiculous. Back-to-back bangers, and in such a unique style that I haven’t heard anywhere else. Daniel Avery is so versatile — easily one of my top three all-time favorite producers.

4. Gwen McCrae – Keep the Fire Burning

This one is such a bomb. The message is so important, too. There are lots of tracks about falling in love, but not enough about staying there and making the effort. This is what music’s all about.

5. Deejay Bloom – Murder on the DFloor

Deejay Bloom is a menace for this one. I’ve been obsessed with this EP for years. It’s the only record that I’ve bought twice — once in Berlin and once in California. The A1 is my favorite, but every track is a gem.

6. George Clanton – Aurora Summer

This track and the rest of the album hold a special place in my heart. I associate it with driving around California and getting married to my wife on the beach. Still hits like when I first heard it.

7. Basement Jaxx – Do Your Thing

This track. The definition of a Jackin’ House bomb. The only thing I dislike about it is that I never know what to follow it up with. This is the kind of track you throw on at the end of a set to go dance with the crowd.

8. Paul Simon – Graceland

I grew up listening to my mom play this album all the time. This song travels through so many different emotions, and does each one so eloquently. It’s a truly timeless one.

9. Lovebirds – Want You In My Soul

About a decade ago, my friend Sam sat me down and had me listen to this the whole way through. Still makes me want to cry. Pure magic that will transport your soul.

10. Mark Morrison – Return of the Mack

Almost went with Sade, but this one is too special to me. I love how vulnerable it feels. Unbelievably catchy, too. Absolute masterclass in R&B.
