Chris Cargo: What’s In Your Box

Chris Cargo made a return to the spotlight this year, capturing the imagination of old and new fans of progressive house. Now he caps the year off in style with a new release courtesy of Juicebox Music. We caught up with the Irish artist to get his Top 10 current favourites in the latest edition of What’s In Your Box.

William Forest & Max Cue – The Present Moment [Lowbit]

Cracking label run by Sonic Union, Lowbit continue to produce the goods and this release is top drawer. A Beautifully constructed track with lush dark melodies and melodic grooves.

Tone Depth – Red Flag [Fryhide]

Very dark slice of melodic Techno, complemented with an edge of brightness courtesy of the wonderful analog leadline.

George morel & Rowee – La Terra [Poker Flat]

This one came out near the end of the summer and has been ever present in my sets. The groove carries the whole track along with nasty stabs and floaty pads that hold it together.

Danito & Athina – KOS [Stil Vor Talent]

I love tracks that use chopped up vocals and this one does just that to create a fantastic atmospheric slice of Deepness on one of my favourite labels.

Li-Polymer – Broken Machine [Asymmetric Recordings]

Totally my kind of vibe a real groover with lush melodies that have a nod to the old skool Progressive House days.

Hot Tuneik – Erase & Rewind [Particles]

One of my stand out tracks of the year great percussion combined with a Deep and driving soundtrack and those stabs!!! Yes love it.

Real Kue Soul – Deep & Raw [Nervous]

Real old skool Deep Tech House vibe going on here, one of those records that you listen to and don’t realise 5 minutes has passed!! Deep and Trippy.

Forerunners – Vacant Deception (Subandrio Remix) [We Are The Underground]

A hypnotic percussive track that builds and builds, warm and subtle this an emotional slice of Deepness.

Rapossa – The Ocean Of Samsara [Magician On Duty]

What an outstanding piece of music this is, the percussion the chords the groove the haunting vocal this has everything for me, definitely not a peaktime record but just turn it up and lose yourself.

Chris Cargo – Crystal [Juicebox Music]

Ok so I had to slip one of my tracks in, and this, one of my final releases of the year ‘Crystal’ is a Deep chugging percussive workout laced with very distinctive emotive stabs.
