Parsifal & Helas

Parisian based artists Parsifal & Helas give us the lowdown on their new collaboration together.

Hi guys, where are you both based and how did you first get started in the scene?

Hey! We are in Paris and we started as a dj some years ago… 🙂

For those that are not aware, how would you describe your sound? Is there a philosophy behind the music you play?

We really like to create not just a track but try to make ambiences, musical spaces where the listener can “travel” into our music.  We make music following our instinct, our heart and simply try to fix any ideas we have, being the most sincerely as possible when we are composing a song.

Talk to us about your latest release and what made you come together to make it?

When we decided to start to collaborate as a duo, we simply shared our taste in the style of music we like so “Places Ep” was created with this idea of a “fusion” of our musical culture and make what we like.

Is this your first release together or have you collaborated before?

As a duo yes, this is our first release.

What made you decide to sign with Kinesen on this one?

Kinesen is our “home” label, Parsifal is one of the founder of this project (together with Specialivery, Mess Me and Tommy J Gren) so the decision to release our first songs on Kinesen was very logical for us.

What’s been your biggest achievement so far?

We think the last two new songs we just made. They express perfectly our ideas to create a club tracks that tell you a story also rich of emotions and full of very organics sounds, not a track simply full of rhythms.

Talk to us about the music scene like where you’re both based: where’s hot, who are the big names locally and how often are you playing?

In Paris we are very lucky because this city is an international destination for all the big artists so you can find very cool party in places like Le Favst, Le Rex, le Badaboum and at the T7 just to give you some nice club’s names. As a very popular artists we think at Agoria, Apollonia, Laurent Garnier and at the Hungry Music’s collective. About us, we play regularly in differents places and clubs.

Tell us about your DJ setup when you’re performing

For our dj sets, we use 4 CDj 2000 Nexus 2 and we like the Pioneer 900 nexus 2 as a mixer.

What are you goals for the future and do you have any other things planned that you want to share?

We are making new music that will come soon and we are very happy to announce that from the next September, we start a collaboration with the Favst to create a party’s series named ‘Horizons’ where we will invite some great artists like Whitesquare, Dj Sobek, Pablo Fierro and David Meyer (just to give you some names) 🙂
