With Be Morais’ remix of Stas Drive out now on Keep Thinking, we take a look at his favourite tracks of the moment in the latest edition of Whatโs In Your Box?
1. Ruede Hagelstein โ Leonidas (Original Mix) [Upon You Records]
โThis track has been one of the most inspiring songs in the last few months for me. The arrangement, sound design and feelings have such a impact, I fell instantly in love with it. Particularly the huge drop, it makes me crawl every single time.โ
2. Muui โ Iusa (Original Mix) [microCastle]
โMuui is one of my bigger references these days. Iusa brings what I most like about his music: dense atmosphere, solid grooves and an intense driving vibe.”
3. Shades of Light โ Behavioral Techrapy (Original Mix) [Not Another]
โI have been playing Behavior Techrapy for a long time now. It is a singular song, very powerful. Both the original and Comunoโs remix have a very special vibe; the first is larger and more aggressive, the remix more intimate and beautiful in a way.”
4. Booka Shade โ Night Falls (Nils Frahm Rework) [Blaufield M10]
โWell, Nils Frahm is one of my favourite artists and one recently my most important source of inspiration. I listen to him every week, maybe everyday. This rework combines his harmonic/melodic ideas with a driving drumโฆ what can I say? Itโs beautifulโ
5. Guy Gerber โ Secret Encounters (Original Mix) [Rumors]
โI love the groovy hypnotic aspect of this track. It is sexy, mysterious and makes you want dance.”
6. ย Navar & Mononoid โ Versoene (Original Mix) [microCastle]
โThis, alongside with Leonidas and Iusa, is one of my reference tracks these last months. Since Iโve heard it I knew exactly what was next for me musically. Hard grooves atmospheric and intriguing sounds!โ
7. Be Morais โ Beyond Illusions (Sam Pauli Remix) [Not Another]
โSamโs remix was capable to show me another side of my own track. He captured the feelings behind, shaping into a very different perspective, yet keeping its essence. This is the most beautiful track in the EP, contrasting with the dark, harsh sounds of the originals and providing a blissful interpretation.”
8. Jamie Stevens โ Traces (Original Mix) [Crossfrontier Audio]
โVery strong track! Strong groove, percussion, perfect very versatile, thinking on a mixing point of viewโ
9. Dave Seaman โ NightFalls (Original Mix) [Selador]
โBoth Original and Lee Van Dowski Remix are very powerful stuff! Love the vocals and the housy vibes inside a techno perspective.โ
10. Stas Drive โ I Feel Her Butterfly (Be Morais Remix) [Keep Thinking]
โSince I heard the original, I love the organic elements in โ I feel Her Butterflyโ. The mandolin was a very interesting element to work with. Since the original has such a great vibe, it was challenging to find a different way to interpret this one. Iโm very happy with the result and had a lot of fun working with the ideas of Stas Drive original mix.โ
